Rethinking Elvis

To me, Elvis is a lot like Jesus Christ;
They have a huge following, are iconic figures, and they would be nowhere without talented writers.

I like both---Jesus for his philosophy and his ability to stretch a meal, and Elvis for his singing, his charisma, and his life story which screams the American Dream.

And like Jesus, I have always avoided Elvis because people think he's the 'King'.......I really don't know what that means. King of Rock and Roll? Why? (For that matter, why is Jesus the Son of Man? Cause he's the son of God? Then why did he die for our sins? Couldn't he of just talked to his father?---I guess this can be hard depending on their relationship. What about Joseph? Was he talking shit to Jesus about God having sex with his wife? Bad blood? Or did Joseph have to think happy thoughts all the time...like that Twilight Zone episode with Ron Howard? Why did Joseph even bother teaching Jesus carpentry? I don't think he's using it now.)

Back to Elvis:
Elvis was a product of Colonel Parker's marketing. I don't want to start a Wiki entry, but the 'King' thing was all about marketing. When you ignore the 'King of Rock and Roll' label, when you ignore his '5 shows a week' stint in Vegas through much of the 70's, and just look at Elvis as a simple performer, he's pretty impressive.
So I am rethinking Elvis. It all started when I heard this song (below). He's rocking out like Buddy Holly. This is 1961, very near the end of Elvis' coolness. The bridge of this song is ridiculous, and the guitar is great.
