Wrigleyville is SO Good

October. New York. Top of the ninth. Tied game. Game 2 of the 2006 NLCS.

The heavily favored Mets, after taking Game 1 from the Cardinals, sent all star closer Billy Wagner to the mound to secure the ninth, and hopefully take
a two games to zero lead into St. Louis.

To the plate, the Cardinals sent 160 pound, defensive replacement, Japanese person, So Taguchi.
After battling back from an 0-2 count, Taguchi worked the count full.

And then hit a fucking home run.

The Cardinals ended up winning the game and the series--but that home run was the turning point.

So Taguchi now plays for the Iowa Cubs---The Chicago Cubs AAA affiliate.

The Iowa Cubs played a minor league game at Wrigley Field--my first Sunday living in Wrigleyville. Since I'm only two blocks away,
I decided to meet So and get his autograph.

I hope The Cubs call him up in September. Although Taguchi is 40 years old, he doesn't look it, and he's having a really good season for Iowa.

And although I'm 30, I still think it's okay to get autographs on my baseball cap.

(notice he signed his name in japanese too)
